  • It has taken me a very long time to complete my MCM databases, backdrops, folders, organizing of meta data, etc., for my very large collection of movies. Is it possible to transfer all this information on another HTPC which has identical hard drives, identical drive letters and directory structure?
Yes,
  1. Your preferences for Media Center Master are stored in the Windows system registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Peter Souza IV\Media Center Master. You can use the menu options to export the entire branch of values to a .REG file, which you can double-click on from your other computer to import the settings in (save/restore).
  2. MCM's cache, log files (if you have them enabled), auto-update files, history/trackers for downloads, and a few other files are located in %AppData%\Peter Souza IV\Media Center Master. Make sure you copy these to the new computer, too.
  3. If you've been downloading cast/crew pictures, they may be in a subfolder in %ProgramData%. Check the MCM settings for where it's set.
  4. MCM stores meta-data locally with your collection, including artwork, subtitles, trailers, etc. You won't need to move this unless you are physically duplicating your collection (for a friend, for example). You're better off creating network shares so both installations of Media Center Master can access the same collection.

Back to FAQ

  • Did eztv.it shut down? MCM is showing that it down...
They go down temporarily all... the... time.

Back to FAQ

  • Will MCM auto organize movies into genre folders so when in media browser things are not over cluttered.
MCM won't sort by Genre. Mediabrowser can display your movies by Genre. This may be where the confusion comes from.

MCM will provide the Genre information for your movies, so MB can use it to sort your collection.
